Ragging {(verb (used with object), ragged, rag. · ging. to scold. to subject to a teasing, especially in an intense or prolonged way (often followed by on)}.

In simple language it means to harm someone in wrongly manner.

                     Ragging is one of the major fear in the college goin fresher.Ragging is something which stress a new college going student most.There is ragging everywhere in the mess,in hostels,in classrooms and many such places.

                           There are many surveys conducted in which a total of 71 deaths due ragging was reported in that period. There were 199 cases of ragging that led to minor and major injuries to students, including 81 incidents leading to hospitalisation and causing permanent disability,” the report states.

                 Laws against ragging in India

There are 13 provision of ipc which a   fresher who is being ragged can used aginast to lodge FIR.
    Some of sections are :-

 339. Wrongfull restraint.
340.Wrongfull confinement.
341.Punishment for wrongful attempt.
341.Punishment for wrongful confinement.
294.Obscene act and song.
506.Punishment for criminal intimidation .In case of extreme ragging that include violence.
305.Abetment for suicide.
307.Attempt to murder
